The Structured Canine is a balanced dog training and boarding facility in Barrie, Ontario. We offer unique board and train programs that allow us to train your dog in our home. This gives us the opportunity to replicate the environment in which your dog will be returning to after their training.
We provide on and off leash obedience training as well as behaviour modification and rehabilitation of human/dog aggression, leash reactivity, anxiety, fearfulness, separation anxiety, crating issues, hyperactive behaviour, lack of impulse control, incessant barking, jumping, leash pulling, destructive behaviour etc.
Through our board and train programs we not only train your dog but also spend as much time as needed to train you, the owner, so you and your dog can enjoy on and off leash reliability in the real world and begin developing a stronger and healthier relationship.
We design our programs to suit your specific training needs or dog’s issues. We believe that every owner has different goals, wants, and needs for their dog and we are here to make those things a reality.

We not only focus on solid obedience but we also focus on a calm, healthy state of mind. These two things go hand in hand and a dog will continue to struggle if it has one without the other.

We do not blame, shame, judge or criticize what has happened in the past. We are here to help you and your dog start over by educating, coaching and supporting you to have the best dog possible.
Creating Calm
Being able to communicate effectively to your dog cultivates a sense of calm, and calm dogs make better choices! We believe in balance. Balanced training is a combination of teaching and reinforcing behaviours we want with toys, praise and food; and stopping unwanted behaviours with tools and effective yet humane techniques and methods.
What we offer
We offer personalized, in-home training that replicates your dog’s environment. They will become a part of our family and our dogs’ pack, working on many different skills and activities during their time with us.
Communication is Key
The Structured Canine uses a lot of different tools! We use tools to help communicate to our dogs what we want and what we don’t want. These tools bring us closer to our dogs than ever before and allow us to communicate effectively in a way both dogs and people understand.
